What is Moodle?
Today, it is the most widely used Learning Management System in the world, with well over 100,000 registered implementations worldwide supporting over 150 million learners. Moodle’s open source project is managed by a dedicated team at Moodle HQ with a head office in Perth, Australia, and satellite offices around the world. The Platform’s modular nature and inherent flexibility make it an ideal platform for both academic and enterprise-level applications of any size.
What’s in the new Moodle PC Mobile App
Here is an App that supports iPhone 5’s extra screen real estate. Moodle for Windows Mobile App is a client based on HTML5 that connects to your existing Moodle server. The focus here is on making content available offline and access to Moodle’s internal messaging system. As with My Moodle, it lets you upload files to your Private File area. Given the right permission on your device, it will access the Photo album to select an existing photo to upload, take live shots using the built-in camera app, and record audio.
Open-source refers to the underlying technology that Moodle is built on, primarily meaning that the software, or Moodle code, is freely available to download, use, customize, redistribute and modify.
As an open-source project, Moodle is a collaborative effort that is supported by a strong global community, including the Moodle HQ team as well as developers, Moodle Partners, and users around the world.
Your courses are listed with easy access to contents, participants, grades and notes. A useful filter field lets you find a particular course quickly. If your token expires during a session, you’re prompted to re-enter your password and continue. The timeline display shows you which tasks you need to complete, with quick access links.
View course activities and download materials for offline use. Work through Books and IMS Content packages directly in the app. The downloading status of resources is preserved even when changing sections or pages. Also, the Site, course, and user events can be viewed in the calendar. Calendar events can now be viewed offline and infinite scrolling is available.
The app now includes a QR reader so users can easily authenticate in their site or open certain courses or activities in the app.
Feature of Moodle for Windows app
Enjoy the flexibility of offline learning
When you’re offline, you can still access your content through the app and keep learning. That’s handy during commutes or when living or working in remote areas where the network might be unstable.
Engage users with push notifications
Keep learners engaged and motivated by sending tailored messages at the right time, so they don’t miss anything and continue to progress through their learning. Save time and remove complexity by automating your notifications.
Quicker and easier login
Get better engagement by having your learning app visible on your employees’ mobile phone. It’s simpler and more accessible than navigating through your browser, logging in each time, and then accessing your training courses.

You’ll be able to provide a wide range of teaching and learning materials to engage your audiences through the mobile app. From videos, written content, forums, and chats to submitting quizzes and assignments, you have it all at the reach of your pocket.
